I had wanderlust before I even knew what it was.  I’ll sit back, take me anywhere.  Get on the road, glance back once in a while. Just keep those strings tied fast to your friends and keep on moving. Eyeballs stuck to the window even though everything outside is a blur. Hours pass like the trees that line the highway.  We pull up in your old jeep, tires screeching on the wet pavement. The bar is already filled with old friends in sequins and leather boots. I look like I’m headed to a garden party, but it’s okay.

Outside, the sand is clumped together with rain behind the parking lot. Sit and watch the waves; someone is playing a guitar while we wait for the show to start. So we never have to be without music.  All of the musicians got a thing for a girl with the same name. Our ears are ringing because we’re laughing too much. It was hard not to get caught up this summer, but at the end of it, it was all the same.
